Public Demonstration Events
Working with partner organizations the Alberta Biathlon Club demonstrates Biathlon with an Optical Rifle booth, giving participants the opportunity to learn the basics of shooting an optical biathlon rifle, the basics of the sport of biathlon and get information on biathlon clubs and programs. (Fast and Female, Calgary Snow Show, WinSport Summer Camps)
Kinder Cup Race Series
The Alberta Biathlon Club, in partnership with Alberta Clubs offers a fun race series focused on beginner athletes. These are fun races emphasizing affordability, sport development and relationship building. (Locations across Alberta)
Summer Camps
In cooperation with Alberta Clubs, The Alberta Biathlon Club conducts summer biathlon camps. The goal of the camps is to introduce participants to the sport of biathlon, physical literacy, recruitment for local clubs and fun.
Private Demonstrations
The Alberta Biathlon Club offers private demos to small groups and individuals. Individuals and small groups that wish to try/practice biathlon with the assistance of a certified coach can book a one day session the includes firearms safety, biathlon sport orientation, introduction to shooting (EcoAims or .22's) and fun races.
The Alberta Biathlon Club (ABC) was incorporated as a society in May 1985. ABC was formed with the goal of maintaining the momentum of the 1988 Olympic Winter Games held in Calgary to further develop the sport of biathlon in the province and to address some of the challenges facing the sport.
The Mission and the Goals of ABC are to:
- promote, develop and increase participation in the sport of Biathlon in Alberta;
- foster the development, operation and maintenance of facilities for biathlon for the use of its members and others, and;
- provide its members with opportunities and training for self-development, leadership, competition, recreation and sportsmanship in biathlon.
